Wayfarer Sunglasses

Since they were originally manufactured by Ray-Ban in 1956, Wayfarer sunglasses have been a classic frame style that is loved by many people regardless of age or gender. Every season, many designers tweak these classic frames using various angles, some gets bigger and the others get colorful... These timeless styles will consistently be a reliable pair of sunglasses in your collection!

 

Wayfarer sunglasses are synonymous with The Blues Brothers to me. It is one of my favorite movies since I was a kid, and I have watched it over and over again.  I even recorded the songs from TV speakers to casette tape and listen to it in my car stereo when I was younger. This scene, starring the great Ray Charles is one of the best scenes (and my favorite)  in a timeless movie with such an amazing cast.  Enjoy!

Bones Brigade

If you were a kid like me growing up in the mid 80’s you had to be familiar with the Bones Brigade skate crew of Mike McGill, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Tommy Guerrero, Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk as well as Powell Peralta founders George Powell and Stacy Peralta. 

 

Together they made skateboarding what it is today, from the style of riding to the tricks, and even down to fashion.  This Spring Summer season 3.1 Phillip Lim and Adam Kimmel took inspiration from skating street wear and below are some of the pieces that can easily be worked in to your wardrobe even if your old board hasn’t seen the light of day in some years

 

      

     

 

Watching the Bones Brigade crew as a kid made me ditch my BMX bike for my boards and if I went somewhere, a board was always with me.  I wanted to ride like Tony Hawk and move to the west coast with its seemingly endless supply of empty pools and backyard half pipes.  My all time favorite skate film is 1987’s The Search For Animal Chin.  It took the Bones Brigade crew through Hawaii and all over the west coast looking for the elusive Won Ton “Animal” Chin.  Still today, this is one of the best skate films of all time and a must for your collection.

 

 Stacy Peralta has brought the Bones Brigade crew back together for a documentary The Bones Brigade: An Autobiography that premiered at Sundance and will be touring through the UK in June, and should be on DVD/Blu Ray sometime soon.  It follows the history of the crew, where they are now and is full of great archival footage.  Be sure to check out The Search for Animal Chin and The Bones Brigade: An Autobiography then break out your board and enjoy the summer!

Rick Owens Jacket's little secret...

Have you ever noticed a little secret in all Rick Owens Jackets? There is a strap located on the inside of every jacket, and it is stitched across the body, helping you avoid the age old problem of "What do I do with my jacket when I take it off...". Just like the image above, the jacket becomes easily portable and hands free! It is a little hint to the expression of the designer. Something like... this luxury leather jacket should not be over-protected, but worn with a carefree attitude to age nicely. With that in mind, we think it looks somewhat beautiful worn just like this...

Maxi length pieces have become a season-less essential for the modern women's wardrobe, but it comes in to play best during the Summer! You can dress it up with heels or down with flats, and both looks are perfect for Summer looks, adding a little bit of dramatic movement. AR Cashmere Series

AR designs a few standard items every season, and their cashmere hoody and jogging pants are definitely some of the top sellers of these classic pieces. They are constructed of meltingly soft cashmere and have a refined fit, while maintaining an unrestrained feeling. They use a special yawn that is resists pilling, and also line the knee areas of the pants with interior patches to keep the silhouette and quality even after a lot of wear! Even though they are cashmere, the material maintains a comfortable breathability, keeping the pieces appropriate for the warm seasons too. They give an effortless mood to your city outfits, or can be a perfect traveling suit!

Dazed and Confused always drops exclusive content on their website! This time, they released a film for the FW12 Jil Sander Men's Collection. Some might remember the presentation, where the models walked down the runway fearlessly in pitch black, and also notabley the last collection designed by Raf Simons.
